Worked in partnership with the Visit McMinnville Tourism Board as the photographer in residence to create a catalog of images that highlight “the heart of Oregon wine country.”
The Atticus Hotel is a boutique hotel in the heart of Oregon wine country in McMinnville, Oregon. Since this hotel was constructed from the ground up, this project was photographed in two phases: the first before construction was completed, aimed to photograph a series of lifestyle shoots to capture the essence and feel of the Atticus Hotel brand in order to begin booking rooms for opening week, and the second phase, after opening to photograph the interior spaces. The most exciting creative challenge was working with the Atticus team to create concepts in order to photograph a hotel before it was even built.
This project’s concept came on the heels of losing a friend of our community and co-creator, Tiffany Mitchell’s, partner and filmmaker Kappel Cloniger. In the midst of making sense of this loss, Celebrity Cruises extended a loose hold to give us the creative freedom to create something meaningful. “Wish You Were Here” is both the literal reaction and sentiment of the longing, as well as explores the idea that it’s the small details and moments of travel that are the “magic” of the experience—it’s that nagging feeling that “you just had to be there, and we wish you were.”
